East Coast tradition comes to the West Coast

A new tradition gets its start in Victoria when the cast of Saltwater Theater Productions’ holiday show knocks on the door and asks, “Any mummers ‘llowed in?”

Mummers Masque is an ode to the English holiday tradition of mummering – when holiday revelers (called mummers) roam door-to-door dressed in disguise, offering amusement and entertainment in the form of music, dance and a play. Typically, at the end of a performance, they’re offered a hot, stiff drink, Christmas cake and a chance to reveal their identities, before moving along to the next “stage.”
